Writing

If I had the chance to sit for hours just writing I would. However like everyone else there is always something else that needs to be done also. Especially when my children decide it’s time for me to stop writing and pay attention to them they have no problem letting me know!

Everyone has their own habits when they write. Either they like to write in a large open room, a small tiny almost confined area, brightly lit room, coffee, Latte or my favorite either Starbucks iced Mocha or McDonalds Frappe. Many of the writers I’ve talked to can’t write unless they have a clean workspace. Personally I do better if my desk is messy. My monitor set far back not even on the desk and I perch my keyboard in my lap. I could write in this situation for hours.

I have a book filled with stories ready to be written. I’ve always been interested in writing. My parents can definitely attest to that. They were always buying little notebooks for me to write in. I grew up reading Judy Blume, Francine Pascal, Leslie McFarlane and the Stratemeyer Syndicate, Anne Rice and of course my favorite Stephen King.

Even though I loved reading their books I kept thinking how I would have changed it, then I wrote my own stories mainly writing what I would like to see in a book. There was a story I had written about New York Gangs. My teachers were conserved since they felt I was far too accurate and asked my mother. At first she had thought I plagiarized it until she watched me while I sat down with a fresh piece of paper and nothing else around me. Watching me write, my mother was shocked when she read what I had written. She wound up reading my other stories and those were consistent also. I never took it as an insult; instead I accepted it as     the biggest compliment possible because I thought it was great they thought I wrote on the level of an adult. I had been around the age of 10-11 at the time.

Plagiarism was something my parents were really strict on; they made it so clear what it meant and why a person could never take pride in themself or the work if it was stolen. Far too many journalists, writers, reporters and many others no longer seem to respect something as simple as “give credit where credit is due.” Proverbs. I was raised in a very religious household.

I also love reading as much as I do writing so I’m always looking for a good book to read. I’ve read every single book Center One Books has. I’ve fallen in love with the different books.
